FAQs

Q: Why a platform? My agency says they can handle mobile sites without that cost.

A: The bemoko platform actually results in a lower TCO, because maintenance is so much easier and all future devices and technology shifts are catered for as they take place – without any further redevelopment by you. Over 10 years’ experience in doing nothing but mobile means that we have come across and and covered everything that your agency still has to learn. We get there quicker and with better results. The bemoko mobile customer experience is unrivalled.

Q: Don’t all mobile websites look the same anyway?

You could be forgiven for thinking so – it has been all too true in the past, especially with many website scraping or responsive website design approaches. However, you don’t have to tolerate either generic sets of hierarchical buttons or an unwieldy desktop site. bemoko creates a genuine mobile interface that reflects your business. And it allows a far greater level of customisation across all devices, not just iPhone users or Android users.

Q: Can I host your platform on my servers?

A: Yes. Bemoko comes as a simple and easy to install application.

Q: Can I run the platform on any servers?

A: Yes, the platform will work on Microsoft or Linux(UNIX) servers.

Q: Everyone has an iPhone or Android phone. Why bother with a platform?

A: New devices are emerging constantly, and you also have legacy users (e.g. Blackberry) to cater for. Crucially, there is no such thing as ‘an Android phone’ there are hundreds, and they are all different. The bemoko solution deals with all the differences in one place, removing the complexity and cost of keeping pace with all the different devices out there. Now and in the future.

Q: Should I build a mobile website or an app?

A: Not all users want to download a new mobile app for every micro-campaign. Mobile apps have their place, but the benefit of creating a mobile website is that you give instant access to customers, including impulse buys by mobile users who are out and about. Mobile web sites are also more searchable than apps, and less costly to create and maintain.

Q: I want to run mobile campaign sites as well as my main site

A: The bemoko platform manages multiple sites. As well as allowing highly innovative campaign microsites, it gives you the advanced analytics needed to track user journeys across all of your bemoko enabled sites.

Q: Can I manage my site and add to it after it has been created?

A: Absolutely. We use standard web languages, and any web developer will be able to maintain the site.

Q: What are responsive websites, website scraping and website scraping tools?

A responsive website design relies on providing general rules and multiple stylesheets to deliver ‘device friendly’ pages. Responsive design solves some of the display problems, but it cannot solve the context problems associated with mobile, which means a less tailored result. Website scraping software gives the most generic experience of all, extracting information from a conventional live website before serving it to the mobile user.

Many customers want to know how to design a mobile website. It stands to reason that building a mobile website requires a different approach to building a desktop website yet the desktop is where most tools have their origins. These tools were never designed to cope with mobile. At bemoko we create tailored websites for mobile, using technology and experience built over 10 years of doing nothing but mobile.
